Overhead Protection

In Royal William Yard the archway entrance to the main courtyard is under repair—and also under the conversion working taking place in the floor above.

Two things interested me about this shot; the first is playing with perspectives to give shape and balance to a composition, and the other was about humour.

The scaffolding and boards under the ceiling are there to catch any falling debris and thus protect the heads of the pedestrians and the roofs of the cars that use the courtyard car park.

Oh! What about the humour? Well, I'll leave you to find your own :)
