Wild Dartmoor Pony
The breed of pony on Dartmoor, unsurprisingly, is called the Dartmoor Pony. They run free for most of the year and the farmers on Dartmoor hold a roundup once a year to check the stock and tag the new foals. There are penalties for feeding them because this encourages them to the roads, which are unfenced.
Since these fines were introduced, the number being injured or killed has reduced significantly. As this and the other shots show, they are quite approachable, if you take it gently so as not to startle them. Speaking in a low, friendly voice helps soothe them as well.
