A Dartmoor Pony mare is suckling her yearling foal - a typical moorland scene in summer on Dartmoor. During the winter it's a very different story when these ponies, ideally evolved to survive the harsh weather, head away from the open, windswept areas and take refuge among the low-growing gorse and in any hollows they can find.
